SMALL CHANGE ADDS UP TO HELP COASTAL BEND CHARITIES
La Palmera fountain funds flow to local non-profits
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (January 28, 2010) – La Palmera is preparing to kick off its Change for Charity program, providing assistance to local non-profits through funds collected from the Center Court fountain.
“Our Change for Charities program is another way for La Palmera to help the community,” said La Palmera General Manager Fred Walters. “The fountain proceeds will go tolocal organizations already making a difference in our area and we invite our local non-profit charities to apply for the program.”
At the end of each month, La Palmera will give the change collected from the fountain to a selected local non-profit group. Of the organizations that have already applied, the Boys and Girls Club of Corpus Christi has been selected as the first recipient and will receive the money collected through the month of January.
Trademark Property started the program in 2005 at its Market Street – The Woodlands development outside of Houston as well as Watters Creek in Allen, Texas, donating funds collected from its parking meters.
Charities interested in applying must meet certain eligibility requirements. The non-profit group must:
• Complete an application to clarify the type of non-profit work, level of need, and
efficiency of operation
• Be either local or a national organization with a local chapter to benefit residents of
the Coastal Bend
• Must not solely exist for the completion of a special project
• Must furnish proof of tax-exempt status
Local non-profits hoping to take part in the Change for Charities program can find an application form at lapalmera.com.
