LA PALMERA HOSTS FREE “HEART FOR HAITI” BENEFIT CONCERT
Feb. 20 mall-wide event to feature live music, entertainment, food and crafts
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (February 16, 2010) – Coastal Bend residents will have the opportunity to show their support for Haitian earthquake relief efforts at the “Heart for Haiti” Benefit Concert, a free event being held Saturday, Feb. 20, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at La Palmera.
La Palmera has partnered with the Coastal Bend-Texas Chapter of the American Red Cross, who will have volunteers in their red “Heart for Haiti” t-shirts on hand to take monetary donations during the event. KOUL Country 103.7 and The Beach 96.5 are also partnering with La Palmera and will be on site for live cut-ins and giveaways.
“We are very excited about this event and hope residents will come out in force to show their support for Haiti,” said La Palmera General Manager Fred Walters. “The needs of Haiti will be ongoing for some time and we want to show them Corpus Christi cares.”
Several bands, including Ram Danesse, Hector Guiterrez and Equal People, will perform throughout the day in the lower level foyer near Dillard’s and Center Court of the mall beginning at 11 a.m. The festivities also include giveaways near Concierge and children’s activities, including crafts near the Undersea Adventure children’s play area on the upper level throughout the day, and free food sampling in the La Palmera Cafes food court from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
La Palmera has created a special “Heart for Haiti” t-shirt, which they will be selling for $10, and there will be a raffle for an iPhone. The event also marks the kick-off of the new La Palmera texting campaign; those texting PALM to 313131 will be entered to win a $100 La Palmera Gift Card. Winners of the iPhone and gift card will be announced at 4 p.m. at the Center Court stage area; you must be present to win.
