Monthly outdoor music and entertainment series to kick off Feb. 17

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (February 2, 2011)– Corpus Christi will now have a new way to kick back and take in some great local entertainment with the Thursday, Feb. 17 kick off of LIVE! On The Lawn at La Palmera.

The new monthly music and entertainment series will be staged on the grassy lawn located outdoors between the food court and main entrance areas of the mall. The events, scheduled for the third Thursday of each month from 6-9 p.m., will provide a festive atmosphere for guests and feature live performances by a variety of local talent including bands and musical groups, dance troupes and more.

The Thursday, Feb. 17 kick-off features music and dance as well as an expanded pre-event line-up of entertainment:

The evening includes giveaways from La Palmera merchants as well as LIVE! On The Lawn items, and a family-friendly “Kidz Zone” featuring a chalk art contest, games and snacks.

Clear Channel Radio is partnering with La Palmera for the LIVE! series and will have Jesse and Bessie from Oldies 93.9 on site for a live remote and giveaways prior to and during the event. Event sponsorCHRISTUS Spohn Health System will also have their CareVan on site to provide flu shots and free biometrics services including blood pressure and BMI evaluations.

 “We have been planning to host an entertainment series for some time and are looking forward to our first LIVE! On The Lawn,” said La Palmera General Manager Fred Walters. “The front lawn area will provide the perfect location for guests as they spread out their blankets to sit and enjoy our talented lineup of performers and festival atmosphere throughout the year. We’ve already had a great deal of interest from our own merchants to participate in the pre-event entertainment so we’re very pleased with that.”

Guests are welcome to bring blankets and folding chairs; no glass containers are allowed.
