FASHION’S NIGHT OUT HITS THE LA PALMERA RUNWAY

New York City’s Fashion’s Night Out event comes to Corpus Christi on September 8

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (August 30, 2011) – Fashion’s biggest party of the year is heading to Corpus Christi. Fashion’s Night Out will be celebrated at La Palmera on Thursday, Sept. 8, from 6-9 p.m.

Started in 2009 by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Fashion’s Night Out is a night of fashion, celebrities, food and parties developed as a way to help build excitement for the kick off of New York City’s Fashion Week and to help raise money for the New York City AIDS Fund. Fashion’s biggest block party has now literally gone global with events scheduled in hundreds of cities across the U.S. along with those in 18 other countries who will also celebrate fashion and raise money for worthy causes.

“Fashion’s Night Out has become an integral part of New York City’s Fashion Week,” said La Palmera General Manager Fred Walters. “We’re pleased to be bringing a little bit of that excitement to the Coastal Bend and think this will be a fun evening for our shoppers. It’s also an enjoyable way to raise money for the March of Dimes and the great work that they do.”

This year La Palmera is bringing Fashion’s Night Out to Corpus Christi to showcase mall merchants’ trendy fashions with in-store events and three runway fashion shows in Center Court. A signature event tote and Blue Jeans for Babies t-shirts will be sold throughout the evening to raise money for the March of Dimes Prematurity Awareness Campaign.

6-9 p.m. -- In‐Store Eventsat Participating Merchants

Participating La Palmera merchants will be hosting in-store events including makeovers, “how-to” lessons and more.

6 p.m. – “Blue Jeans for Babies” Denim on the Runway, in partnership with Macy's, Benefiting the March of Dimes

Macy’s will preview their fall line-up of casual wear for the whole family, featuring local March of Dimes families along with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurses and staff members from local hospitals as models. (Blue Jeans for Babies is a March of Dimes annual awareness and fundraising campaign, which encourages individuals and businesses to allow employees to wear jeans to the office one day in exchange for their donation to March of Dimes.)

6:35 p.m. -- La Palmera's Fashion on the Runway

La Palmera will host a runway fashion show featuring a variety of fall trends from participating merchants, including Macy’s, JCPenney, Dillard’s, Francesca’s Collections and more.

7 p.m. – Jewels of the Earth Make-up and Hair Spectacular, presented by Aveda Institute Corpus Christi

Aveda Institute Corpus Christi will highlight hair and make-up trends for fall.
