LA PALMERA READY TO KICK OFF HOLIDAY SEASON
Santa arrives Nov. 12; extended hours, Pet Nights with Santa, charity gift wrapping highlight season
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (Nov. 5, 2009) - The holidays are just around the corner and La Palmera is preparing to kick off six weeks of holiday happenings.
The season officially begins with Santa's annual arrival on Thursday, Nov. 12. The evening's festivities will take place from 5-8 p.m. with a party in the new West Court. There will be live music, dancing and visits from beloved characters such as the Care Bears and Curious George. Santa will arrive at the party around 6 p.m. before making his way to his Polar Express location in the newly renovated Center Court. Guests will have the chance to take in the new La Palmera Cafes food court where food locations will be providing samples as well as get a jump on holiday shopping as stores bring their merchandise out into the mall.
For added convenience, the mall and department stores will have special holiday hours beginning Nov. 27 through January 1.
Shoppers can also help local charities by taking advantage of La Palmera's charity gift wrapping service available each Friday through Sunday, the first three weekends of December. Volunteers representing Big Brothers Big Sisters, CASA of the Coastal Bend and Ronald McDonald House will each take a weekend and be stationed on the lower level near Dillard's. The Salvation Army will also stage their traditional bell-ringing campaign at the mall entrances.
Santa will be available for visits and photos through Dec. 24 in Center Court. Pet lovers can also bring their favorite kitty or canine for "Pet Night with Santa," held Wednesday, Dec. 2, Dec. 9 and Dec.16, from 5-9 p.m. each evening. A portion of the photo proceeds from those events will benefit Paws UP (Dec. 2), Gulf Coast Humane Society (Dec. 9) and PALS (Dec. 16). Only dogs and cats are permitted and all animals must remain on a leash or in a carrier at all times.
