Retailers entice shoppers with back-to-school savings and extended hours
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (August 4, 2015) – The new school year is just weeks away and many residents have been waiting for the August 7-9 Texas Sales Tax Holiday to stock up on clothing and other back-to-school items.
“Back-to-school time and the Texas tax-free weekend is always one of the busiest of the year,” said Fred Walters, general manager of La Palmera and The Shops at La Palmera. “Families now plan on these weekends to save money, particularly those buying for more than one student.”
Select retailers at La Palmera and The Shops at La Palmera will have extended hours for the three-day event, a list of which can be found online at www.lapalmera.com.
Officers from the Corpus Christi Police Department will be on site Friday through Sunday at La Palmera to assist with traffic control, making it easier for customers to navigate their way in and out of parking areas. Valet parking is also available at the mall’s main entrance near P.F. Chang’s, and for added convenience, shoppers can call in or text their valet claim number to (361) 238-0777 and have their car waiting for them.
Tax-free items once again include most basic school supplies as well backpacks, clothing, shoes and many accessories priced under $100 used by elementary and secondary students. Shoppers will also find special deals at many stores whose merchandise does not qualify for tax-free status. More information on the sales tax holiday, including links to lists of included items, can be found at http://comptroller.texas.gov/taxinfo/taxpubs/taxholiday/d/.
La Palmera shoppers will find children’s shoes and accessories at Stride Rite and Kids Foot Locker; uniforms at The Children’s Place, Bealls, Dillard’s, JCPenney and Macy’s; athletic t-shirts and shorts from Champs Sports and Dick’s Sporting Goods; denim and other clothing and accessories from Aeropostale, Buckle, OshKosh B’gosh, PacSun, Vans and Zumiez; as well as makeup and grooming products at MAC and Ulta.
