Select La Palmera stores to open on Thanksgiving; increased CCPD presence throughout holidays

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (November 24, 2015) – As the holidays draw nearer, so does the traditional day-after-Thanksgiving start of the holiday shopping season.

“Although most are opting to open for only a few hours Thursday, and then reopen again on Friday, we do have more than 20 stores that will open on Thanksgiving and stay open through mall closing on Friday,” said Fred Walters, general manger and vice president of La Palmera and The Shops at La Palmera. “Last year was extremely busy and we expect a good crowd again this year.”

A majority of La Palmera stores plan to open Thanksgiving Day beginning in the afternoon into the evening, including Beall’s at 1:30 p.m. and JCPenney at 3 p.m., followed by Macy’s and more than 50 other stores and food locations at 6 p.m. or later.

Others will remain closed on Thanksgiving and open early Friday, including Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop at midnight; GameStop at 4 a.m.; Bath & Body Works, Bourbon Street Candy Co., Gordon’s Jewelers, and Lid’s at 6 a.m.; and Champs and Soma Intimates at 7 a.m. All mall stores will be open at 8 a.m. on Friday, marking the start of La Palmera’s special holiday hours, which run through Dec. 31.

In addition to La Palmera’s regular tenants, many seasonal favorites are back this year for the holidays, including Hickory Farms, Go! Toys and Calendar Club.

Store hours are subject to change; a current Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday schedule will be posted online at lapalmera.com and updated as needed.

The Corpus Christi PD will also have an increased presence at La Palmera as they do each holiday season. Officers will provide additional security in the mall and will assist with traffic and parking issues when needed, beginning on Black Friday.

And although there is ample free parking, including a covered garage, the mall’s valet parking service expects another busy holiday. This year the Valet at La Palmera is providing customers a special holiday package. The cost for valet from Nov. 27 through Jan. 1 is $10, with a portion of the proceeds going to Big Brothers Big Sisters. The package also provides special offers for La Palmera merchants including one free valet parking pass valid Jan. 2-Feb. 28, 2016.
