Thousands expected to attend annual event; community groups invited to participate in parade

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (October 19, 2018)– The holidays are just around the corner as preparations continue for Santa’s arrival at La Palmera and the official start to the holiday shopping season.

Coastal Bend residents are again invited to La Palmera’s annual holiday event on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 6–8:30 p.m., highlighted by Santa’s Magical Illuminated Parade, presented by Apollo Towing.
Guests are invited to bring their lawn chairs and get a good a spot for the outdoor portion of the evening beginning at 6 p.m. Four of Santa’s reindeer will be on display as festive street fair style performers entertain crowds as they await the start of the parade, stepping off at 6:30 p.m. from the west side of Dillard’s, making its way along the front of the mall to the east side of JCPenney.

Many community groups have once again signed up to participate in the parade, but entries are still being accepted from community groups, marching bands, local businesses, etc. who would like to take part. Those having an interest should fill out a parade application at http://www.lpholiday.com/parade/ by October 26. All entries are subject to approval.

Once the parade has concluded, some activities continue outside, including Santa’s reindeer, as well as indoor holiday entertainment such as face painting, arts and crafts on the Upper Level (while supplies last), and performances in the food court on The Holiday Stage, presented by HEB, until 8:30 p.m. Santa will also be in Center Court to begin meeting boys and girls and posing for annual holiday photos, presented by Apollo Towing. Santa will be available that evening through December 24 during mall hours.
