La Palmera Welcomes Palenque Grill & Taco Palenque

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (April 14, 2022) – La Palmera today announced the addition of Taco Palenque and Palenque Grill to the mall’s expanding dining options.

Plans call for the new 4,500-square-foot Taco Palenque quick-service restaurant and drive-thru to be located near Firestone off Staples Street, with the 8,920-square-foot casual dining Palenque Grill table service restaurant to be located adjacent to Dave & Buster’s.

Both are the creation of owner Juan Francisco “Pancho” Ochoa, the founder of the popular El Pollo Loco restaurant brand.

Headquartered in Laredo, Texas, Taco Palenque has been serving its brand of Mexican cuisine throughout South Texas since 1987, employing more than 1,900 at 29 existing Taco Palenque and five Palenque Grill locations, with plans to continue its growth and expansion in the state. The restaurant’s featured dishes include the popular pirata taco, flame-grilled beef or chicken fajita plate, parrillada, panchos (tortilla chips dipped in refried beans and guacamole), homemade desserts, and breakfast tacos. The Taco Palenque salsa bar also features more than seven different homemade salsas and hot sauces.

Palenque Grill is a casual dining table-service restaurant featuring 100% Mexican dishes and premium ingredients with the flavors of the North Pacific Coast of Mexico that includes Sinaloa, Sonora, North and South Baja California. The family-oriented ambiance of Palenque Grill is a direct reflection of the Ochoa family, including many family recipes in the expansive menu, which also features appetizers, desserts, and margaritas.

Construction on the two locations is set to begin immediately with the Palenque Grill, the first in Corpus Christi, slated to open in late November with completion of the fast-service Taco Palenque, the city’s second location, in early 2023.
