Located on Center Court, the new 1,600-square-foot Kendra Scott boutique opens Friday, Feb. 2, with plans for a Grand Opening event in March. The new store features Scott’s unique earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings and brooches, including Kendra Scott Classics, the store’s signature mix of shapes and colors, as well as home décor and gifts.

Stores gear up for day after Thanksgiving; La Palmera holiday programs helping local non-profits

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (Nov. 17, 2015) – La Palmera stores are preparing for the traditional start of the holiday shopping season as residents prepare to give — with gifts for family and friends and by helping those in need.

Although Macy’s and JCPenney will open late Thanksgiving Day, La Palmera officially will be closed. JCPenney will open at 2 p.m. and Macy’s at 5 p.m.; shoppers may access the stores through the outer doors of each as the mall entrances will not be open. On Friday, Nov. 24, the mall doors will open at 6 a.m. It’s anticipated that a number of stores will open early that day, with all stores open by the regular time of 10 a.m. A full schedule of store openings will soon be available at lapalmera.com.

Meanwhile, many of La Palmera’s annual holiday events have already begun.

“We donate and help raise tens of thousands of dollars each year for local charities, but the holidays are always the busiest since giving is on everyone’s mind,” said Fred Walters, vice president and general manager of La Palmera. “This holiday season we’ll again be hosting several of our popular fundraising programs designed to help a variety of local organizations as well as continuing our donation efforts for victims of Hurricane Harvey.”

La Palmera’s Forest of Giving, a collection of uniquely decorated trees representing 10 local organizations, is located near Concierge where shoppers may cast votes for their favorite tree through Dec. 16. The tree receiving the most votes will win $1,000 for the represented organization, including: Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas, For the Love of Strays, American Red Cross, The Deaf & Hard of Hearing Center, Triumph Over Kid Cancer, decorated by King High School Student Council, Burn Pits 360 Veterans Organization, Corpus Christi Professional Fire Fighter Relief & Outreach, The Montessori School of Corpus Christi, Mission Pawsible Animal Assistance and GenCure with Be The Match.

The popular “Pet Night with Santa,” presented by Apollo Towing, will also return for six nights beginning in November. Guests may bring their favorite dog or cat Monday and Tuesday evenings, November 20–21, 27–28 and Dec. 4–5 from 5-8 p.m. A portion of the photo proceeds from these six events will benefit a different local animal organization each evening: Gulf Coast Humane Society (11/20), Paws Up (11/21) Mission Pawsible (11/27), Kanines and Kitties (11/28), For the Love of Strays (12/4), and The Cattery Cat Shelter (12/5). Only dogs and cats are permitted and all animals must remain on a leash or in a carrier at all times.

Guests can take advantage of La Palmera’s charity gift-wrapping service every Friday through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. beginning Dec. 1 and the entire week before Christmas. New tenant named as other stores open new locations

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (Oct. 20, 2017) – Austin-based jewelry maker Kendra Scott will soon begin construction on a 3,000-square-foot boutique located on Center Court. Slated to open in early 2018, Kendra Scott will take over the space recently vacated by Bath and Body Works/White Barn Candle, which is now open in a new 4,933-square-foot space adjacent to Express. Aug. 4 event to provide information from growing list of educational and service groups

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (July 31, 2017) — Coastal Compass Education and Career Resource Center and La Palmera have teamed up to present Destination: Education!, an education fair designed to help students, parents and community members prepare for the upcoming 2017-18 school year.

The event will be held at La Palmera on Friday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and is free and open to public. Advisors and representatives from more than 30 colleges, universities, skills training centers, schools, after school programs, and community organizations will be on hand throughout the mall to provide information and answer questions. Among the participants already confirmed are CCISD, Coastal Bend College, Del Mar College, Saint Leo’s University, Sam Houston State University, Stephen F. Austin State University, Goodwill Industries, Job Corp, Workforce Solutions, Girls Scouts of Greater South Texas, Amistad Community Health Center, and LULAC National Educational Service Center.

Additionally, Coastal Compass staff will assist students prepare for postsecondary education by assisting them in completing applications for college admission, scholarships, and FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Oakley, Bath & Body Works/White Barn to open larger, newly designed stores

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (July 24, 2017) – La Palmera shoppers will soon be enjoying the delicious offerings of Steak ‘n Shake and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

Steak ‘n Shake will soon be serving its famous made-to-order Steakburgers, hand-dipped shakes and other items in the La Palmera Cafes food court. Construction is set to begin soon on the new 910-square-foot space located between Sarku Japan and HJ Smoothies & Creamery. No opening date has been announced.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory will offer shoppers an extensive line of premium chocolate candies and other confectionery treats, with a variety of premium fudges and other products prepared in the store.  Located on the Main Level of La Palmera adjacent to Aldo, the 858-square-foot location is scheduled to open in October.

Two existing stores will soon have larger locations at La Palmera. Construction is underway on a new 4,933-square-foot Bath & Body Works/White Barn store, which will be located adjacent to Express. Free series showcasing local talent kicks off June 7

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (May 30, 2017) – La Palmera is kicking off the Sounds of Summer concert series Wednesday, June 7. Free and open to the public, the five-performance series will feature Coastal Bend bands performing a variety of music on stage in La Palmera’s Food Court.

Scheduled for 6–8 p.m. each evening — June 7 and 21; July 5, 19 and 26 — the series features a variety of musical genres.

6/7       Motif Band – Appearing in local clubs and festivals, the band performs a great mix of popular music including classic rock ’n’ roll, funk, oldies, 70s, 80s, 90s dance, Tejano and cumbias rancheras.

6/21     Lyrical Bynge – Professionals by day, rock ‘n’ rollers by night, Coastal Bend residents have likely heard this popular cover band at many local events and venues including Shrimporee, Schlitterbahn, Rock & Ride, Bayfest, and the Cole Park Bay jamming concert series.

7/5       Drive – A local favorite, this five-piece band keeps crowds on their feet with big sounds of the 80s, 90s and today.

7/19     John Ramirez Band – Based out of South Texas, the group has been picking up steam on the local circuit with the release of the self-produced album, “Prayers to Saint Jude.” With all original material, the group has an innovative and signature sound featuring a blend of classic blues and rock.

7/26     The OddFellas – Self-described as “Makers of Music. Creators of Sound. Fellas of Odd.” and drawing inspiration from musicians such as Bruno Mars, Jason Mraz, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, this pop fusion group are regulars on the Corpus Christi music scene.

Final Pet Nights March 28–29 and April 11–12; children’s events April 2, 3 and 4

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (March 28, 2017) – Easter is Sunday, April 16, and La Palmera is providing guests a number of opportunities to meet and interact with the Easter Bunny, who will be in Center Court through Saturday, April 15, for photos during regular mall hours.

La Palmera has scheduled a number of events as well including the final four “Pet Night with the Easter Bunny” events on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 28 and 29, and April 11 and 12, from 5–8 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local organizations helping animals: Mission Pawsible (3/28 and 29), For the Love of Strays (4/11) and Kanines & Kitties (4/12). La Palmera holiday activities help local organizations; additional Pet Night with Santa set for Dec. 13

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (Dec. 9, 2016) – With holiday shopping in full swing, men’s clothier Jos. A. Bank has opened at The Shops at La Palmera.

Adjacent to Destination XL, the 3,729-square-foot Jos. A. Bank opened Dec. 2 providing quality men’s clothing, including formal wear, suits, shoes and accessories for purchase or rental. The store is open seven days a week with extended holiday hours beginning Dec. 16.

Meanwhile, construction continues on the 2,500-square-foot Urban Bricks Pizza, which is scheduled to open in January adjacent to Grub Burger Bar. Known for homemade dough and fresh ingredients, Urban Bricks’ will also provide delivery service.

Holiday shoppers at La Palmera continue to take advantage of seasonal activities giving back to the community including the popular Pet Night with Santa, presented by Apollo Towing. Already expanded to six nights this year, the overwhelming response has prompted La Palmera to schedule yet another event for Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 5–8 p.m., with a portion of photo proceeds benefitting Kanines and Kitties. Only dogs and cats are permitted and all animals must remain on a leash or in a carrier at all times.
